It’s pretty late, so we’re going to go and find the hostel, and check in, and get some work done before exploring Amsterdam tomorrow. Ok, we’ve just woken up in Amsterdam. And it’s a Beautiful day, beautiful morning. So we’ve decided to rent some bikes for the day and see the city from a more local perspective. We’re go...

Amsterdam's countryside seems to be taken out of a page of a Thomas Hardy novel. Or rather vice versa. Of gleaming grass, striking polders encircled by dikes, rustic windmills and surreal, the Dutch country is a sight that would render most people speechless. One of the tour operators that can arrange such visits is Tour & Tickets, which offers the Countryside Tour. The Countryside tour is a five hour bus adventure that takes you across villages of Zaanse Schans and Volendam, along with the Marken island. The activities covered within the space of these five hours are numerous, diverse and fodder for some unforgettable memories. Find out more: http://myde.st/PCHsik

Taking you on a grand journey through the Netherlands, starting with a visit to Haarlem, travelling then down to Leiden, spending three nights in Leiden, doing a few day trips out from there. Then I’ll take you to Delft for three more nights and excursions out from Delft such as to The Hague which is the political capital of the nation. http://tourvideos.com/ And then on to Rotterdam the great modern city of the Netherlands, continuing to Utrecht, a university town with a very large historic center and then down to Maastricht in the southern part of the country. I'll also be going up to the Alkmaar cheese market which is a lot of fun. It happens once a week and it’s a big touristic event. They re-create what it was like in the old days with the cheese market and the guys running around c...

By train, bike, and boat, we visit the top Dutch sights outside of Amsterdam: from Haarlem to Rotterdam, and from Delft to the Zuiderzee. Along the way, we enjoy charming towns with fragrant cheese markets, soggy polderland, mighty dikes, and windmills both new and old. Rolling through the Netherlands and connecting with its people, you can’t help but think, “Everything’s so...Dutch!” At http://www.ricksteves.com, you'll find money-saving travel tips, small-group tours, guidebooks, TV shows, radio programs, podcasts, and more on this destination.
Amsterdam — Europe's best-preserved 17th-century city — is simultaneously quaint and jarring, traditional and modern. Filled with history and still happy-go-lucky, it's a delight to explore. Uniquely entertaining Amsterdam shows off its Rembrandts and Van Goghs, more bikes than cars, flirting prostitutes, and pot-filled coffeeshops — all under tall, skinny facades leaning out over placid canals. In 1894, Tjeerd Kuipers, a renowned Dutch architect built 7 houses side-by-side, each inspired by the typical architecture of each country: Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Russia, Netherlands, English. A short 5 minute walk.
